At a track less to the Corvette, Archie Hamilton and his team-mate Isaac Tutumlu made the most of their last races of the International GT Open season, qualifying 13th and 8th, the latter being the fastest time set by a Corvette in the session.
Race one saw the duo rise to ninth by the flag in the 70 minute race, despite having more success ballast following the winning weekend at the last round in Italy. Race two also saw rises through the order with Archie crossing the line in fifth, third in the Super GT class. After 50 minutes of racing.
2014 had a difficult start but a switch to the SRT Selleslagh Racing Team by Barzani at Silverstone partnering Tutumlu saw a strong pairing with podium finishes at every round . After an overall win at Spa, success continued with the strongest weekend of the campaign at the Monza track where Archie set pole position, took a class win and stood on the overall podium for both races. The podium finish in Spain this weekend increased Archie’s points tally and he finishes the season in 6th place in the driver standings in the Super GT class
“This year has been tough at times but the last half of the season brought some real highlights. Racing with Isaac has been fantastic and I hope we can work together in the future. SRT has been great too and I would like to thank them all for giving us a car that challenged for the podium at every round. Now it’s time to take stock and start talks for next year. I now have experience in Porsche, Ferrari and Corvette and proving my consistency has been important this year so I hope that teams have seen my maturity and results. Whatever it brings I’m looking forward to it.”
