Archie Hamilton has started his second Le Mans 24 Hour campaign. The 23 year old from Basingstoke is driving the #53 Ram Racing Ferrari in the LMGTE Am class in the iconic French race which starts tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm local time.
Qualifying for the race took place on Wednesday and Thursday with Archie’s team set to take the start of the race in 11th place. Archie and his team-mates Johnny Mowlem and Mark Patterson worked through a number of set up changes, tyre evaluation and fuel analysis.
Dan Shufflebottom, CEO Ram Racing:
“When Archie’s in the car he doesn’t take risks. He’s mature for his year. I don’t worry – he looks after the car. I’ve been impressed by that and his consistency.”
“We knew straight away that we weren’t going to be the quickest car but we were focussed on race pace and getting Mark up to speed. I’m pleased that me and Johnny are on a similar pace. The car’s very consistent and predictable – we worked hard to get it like that. Our first goal is to finish and with our pace, if we can keep out of trouble, there’s no reason why we can’t get a podium.”
