Archie Continues Porsche Podium Run At Donington Park

Archie Hamilton enjoyed further success in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB at the weekend (August 15/16) as he made it four podiums in a row in his Redline Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

A month after he made his racing return in the series with an excellent pair of third place finishes, the 29-year old replicated his impressive form with two more trophies despite tricky conditions at Donington Park.

Qualifying third on the grid, race day dawned under wet and murky skies, making it difficult for competitors with a greasy surface as they tried to keep their cars on track. Archie drove a mature race as rivals slid off around him, finishing third, after holding off team-mate Ethan Hawkey in the closing stages.

With atmospheric conditions failing to clear later in the afternoon, he once again started well despite the wet surface, taking second off the line and slotting into third coming down the Craner Curves. After a Safety Car period to recover a car from the gravel, he managed to fend off Alex Toth-Jones to record a fourth-straight third place, opening the season in style.

Archie will return to action on the challenging Brands Hatch Indy circuit for a one-day meeting on September 6, racing as part of the popular Porsche Club GB Raceday.

Archie Hamilton

“Conditions were really tricky on race day, so I am really happy to come away with four straight podium finishes to open the year. Race one on Sunday morning was exciting, with the rain and cars sliding off at different points around the circuit, so I knew it was a case of keeping calm and not making any big mistakes, and I was right!

“It wasn’t as wet for race two, but still tough to drive to the limit and not step over it. We were a bit more comfortable and had good pace, perhaps not quite where the top two were, but we’ll keep working at it, and the team at Redline Racing did a brilliant job on the car. Thanks, as ever, to DeMichele Group and UFI Filters for the support this year – we’ll get that win soon!”

Dino Zamparelli

“When you think that Archie had five years away from racing and limited testing before the season got underway, his four straight podium finishes are really impressive. What reflects so well on him is his ability to listen, take in advice, and apply it on track, and the results speak for themselves.

“It is hard to describe how difficult conditions were on race day, especially in these cars, so to keep all four wheels on track while running competitive lap times speaks volumes with how far Archie has come in a short space of time. We’ll review the weekend together, think about where we can make small improvements, and come back looking to help him take that win at Brands Hatch.”
